Adoption Procedure

Placing animals into good, loving forever homes is the primary aim for all our residents but to ensure we assess each home offer to do our utmost to provide the correct match for our animals we ask anyone wishing to adopt to please follow the procedure below.

Please remember we want the absolute best for the animals in our care and we will advise accordingly, none of this is meant to cause offence it is purely because our priority is the animals happiness and welfare.

Please bare in mind that others may have also applied for the animal that you are interested in. In the cases where the animal you wish to adopt has found its forever home, our volunteers will still offer a home visit with the plan of you viewing other animals available.

Adoption Fees: Adoption Fees must be paid in full at the time of adoption using the methods of cash or cheque. These fees go part way to cover the costs of the animal and centre. Adoption fees are as follows - Adult Dogs £200 (Puppies under 20 weeks old and fully vaccinated £250), Cats and Kittens £50. For other animals the adoption fee differs by species, so please ask for more information.

Step One: Complete the online application form.

This is purely to register your interest in adoption. This can be done with a specific animal in mind or generically and we can discuss what animals fit your situation later, on your visit to the centre. Please include as much information as possible at this stage to help us build a picture of the home you are offering.

Step Two: The home visit.

Within 48 hours of your application being received you will be contacted by telephone, text and/or email by one of our voluntary home assessors.

They will arrange a time to visit you at your home to ask some questioned and assess the suitability of the home being offered. They will also cover some of our policies. This is then sent back to us at the centre for us to assess.

Step Three:  Visiting the Centre

You will receive a call/email from the adoption team at the centre, all being well at the home visit stage an appointment will be made for you to visit the centre to view the animals for adoption.  At this stage an adoption may take place, we may ask you to visit more than once depending on the needs of the animal.  It is at this stage an adoption contract will be signed and the adoption fee paid. This adoption contract consists of our Terms and Conditions which can be read here.
