Around 13.2hh 5 year old, very smart dark bay mare, nice stamp of a pony believed to be Sec C or Welsh x Crystal came to PAT Ponies CIC for a start to her new chapter. She was one of the Greenacres Animal Rescue; Lamphey 8, abandoned in a field in a very poor state of malnourishment and neglect, she and the other ponies were a sorry state indeed, but were nursed back to health by the wonderful volunteers and staff at Greenacres (one poor soul who lost her young life to the suffering she had endured meant that they would become the Lamphey 7). Crystal will need firm but kind handling as her previous poor experience of the world meant she would initially be a little pushy and guarded, however, she has come to trust and has worked very well with groundwork, proving to be a really lovely pony on the ground and learning manners. If you are looking for a kind and genuine pony, who enjoys building a bond with her person, and wants to please, then look no further! Crystal will happily stand to be groomed and fussed over, she has overcome her shyness of the farrier and is standing very nicely to have her feet trimmed, she is currently barefoot and doing well. She is a good doer, that doesn’t need too many extras, if well rugged and given access to good grazing and shelter. Lives in a mixed herd of 12 horses and ponies, from miniature Shetland’s up to 16hh horses she takes her place in the herd very happily, is not mareish, and happy to be stabled. Good to catch, with no vices. Has been desensitised using tarpaulin, plastic bags etc yields to the mounting block, which means she will present the saddle to you and stand patiently to be mounted, respects the whip as an aide but is not afraid of it. Catches beautifully, leads well, had a small clip and was very good with the clippers, a little tickle around the jawline but generally very good. Mainly hacked out as broken over the winter and fields became very slippy for riding in, so she will require schooling on in her new home, please bare this in mind if applying for her. Crystal will require an experienced home, to continue progressing her education, but I believe she will make a fabulous ridden prospect and make somebody very happy indeed. She definitely deserves a happy loving home, and has proved herself a real treasure of a pony. I will be sorry to see her go, but delighted to see her happily ever after wish come true.
