Ruby is around 14/14.2hh 5 year old, pretty red bay mare, well put together pony with nice confirmation believed to be a Welsh x Ruby came to PAT Ponies CIC to start to her education She was one of the Greenacres Animal Rescue; Lamphey 8, abandoned in a field in a very poor state of malnourishment and neglect, she and the other ponies were a sorry state indeed, but were nursed back to health by the wonderful volunteers and staff at Greenacres (one poor soul who lost her young life to the suffering she had endured meant that they would become the Lamphey 7). Ruby was terribly headshy when we first began working with her, however she has learned to trust and is working very well to over come this. She is has good manners in her groundwork, proving to be a really lovely respectful pony on the ground. She will happily stand to be groomed, tacked up, rugged and fussed over. She is good with the farrier, standing very nicely to have her feet trimmed, and is currently barefoot and doing well. Here with us at PAT Ponies CIC she has been desensitised using tarpaulin, plastic bags and traffic etc and respects the whip as an aide but is not afraid of it. Ruby now catches well, without the need to keep a head collar on and leads well. Ruby currently happily lives in a mixed herd of 12 horses and ponies, from miniature Shetland’s up to 16hh horses. She takes her place in the herd, and even if a special bond is built with one certain horse she is not mareish to seperate, and is happy to be stabled. Ruby has lived out rugged with a little additional hay and feed to maintain condition. Ruby has been backed slowly and gently hacked out, and is proving to be an honest and responsive ride however she will require schooling on in her new home, so please bare this in mind if applying for her. Ruby will require an experienced home, to continue progressing her education, but I believe she will make a fabulous all round mother/ daughter share in the right home.
